Ever been or heard of Mushkpuri? I am pretty sure if you have lived in Islamabad or have been actively
going toward Murree and Nathia Gali, you are aware of Mushkpuri. Well, what if I told you that there are
meadows even prettier than Mushkpuri, deep into the mountains past the Mushkpuri campsites? When
you pass Donga Gali and move toward Namli Mera Waterfalls, you will notice that there is a turn towards
the right which takes you to a hiking trek. This hiking trek concludes at Miranjani; the lush green meadow
of Nathia Gali. If Mushkpuri feels too plain for you then Miranjani is the perfect location.
Miranjani’s hiking trek alone takes about 2-3 hours to cover. It is best to plan a camping trip to Miranjani
since it is not possible to visit the location, spend the day and hike back down within one day. Besides,
when you visit Miranjani, a single-day trip does not do justice to the place. So when you are planning a
trip to Miranjani, the best thing for you to do is plan a camping night or arrange for the ones already
present there. There is only one hotel service at Miranjani, and that too is not too expensive if you buy the
room while sharing it with your friends and family.
If you have ever wanted to see a billion stars without the pollution of light from the town, Miranjani
should be your goal. Imagine just walking out of your tent at night and looking up; it would look like
there are billions of stars just aiming at you as they fall to the ground. If you are lucky enough then maybe
you might find yourself some shooting stars.
When you wake up in the morning, do remember to wander around in the Miranjani woods because
without seeing all the sights at Miranjani, it is not feasible to come back! The first thing a person should
do when they wake up is, take a long slow breath and then appreciate how good it feels and how blessed
Pakistan is to have such a gem of a place. Miranjani is tucked away from the general population of
Pakistan and is only known by a few places and is advertised randomly by tourism companies for one-day
trips, hence it is still in its original form with minimal littering and change in the landscape.
The wildlife and nature of the Himalayas are praised around the globe but the people of Pakistan need to
focus on sustaining these important tourist sights because there has been so much litter and nuisance in
the North, it is slowly becoming unbearable during the Summers and sights like Namli Mera and
Miranjani are the only ones left which are away from crowds. Protect the wild at all costs!
